be serious in marching.
mark time must be 45 degrees.
dip in dun drag ur feet.
ur instrument dun put too low, around 45 degrees.
stand straight.
look up.
listen to the seniors .
do not slack anymore. memorise ur score
sharp turns, remember lock ur arms

hmm there is not much time alr so jia you! sec 2/3 , mus listen to the seniors to wadeva they say. alright thats all. remember drink lots of water and eat more fruits and most importantly sleep early :D :P

Hey go borrow instruments! esp. sec 1 go go go!! (: nothing to do at home go play(: practise holding ur tuning note see how long u all can hold and go practise high notes make sure it is not FLAT! Mus be on the dot or sharper (: ok?... Then oso.. go prac chromatic scales from very slow then if u think u can play faster go ahead make sure if u play fast no missing notes like if there is 8 notes make sure u run and the 8 notes can be heard. U all go teach Zheng Yi how to have a gud sound and tongue without having that blah! sound. I assume u all sec 1 can play wif gud sounding but i dun think u all play high notes have GUD SOUND. nvm.. jus go teach Zheng Yi cuz i think he play high or low notes got that stupid blah! sound. Mus help each other! our aim is to get the best section award again jus like last year! JY! hmm... i think thats all i wanna say. JIA YOUS!

(: but please be serious in ur playing pls. i noe there are some of u still cannot sight read and remember low notes play louder and wif air support but that does not mean that when u play high notes, u no nid air support. AND! do not relax ur embrochure! ppl in 1st / 2nd clar or even 3rd clar high notes PLS DO NOT GO FLAT! the sound is so sucky and i noe u all oso dun like this type of sound! and during sectionals! DO NOT USE HANDPHONE! ZHENG YI!! *eyes looking at u* use ur phone or sleep during sectionals u will get it from Amanda and YiChuan! MORE AIR! AIR IS FREE! BREATHE MORE AIR! u will always here Mr Faizal or Mr Phua say MORE AIR MORE AIR! Play FULL VALUE! work on ur running notes! Chromatic all this go practise! very important as we all are woodwind players u see most of the scores all got running notes wan! i know it is quite difficult haha! i use to be damn naughty cuz i did not play clarinet well!! *winks to Amanda / YiChuan* Ok attendance is oso very important ok? haha ok i have finish posting. Performance Attire (guys) : Band top, band bottom (make sure it's very white&not baggy!), socks (should not be ankle socks), boots, spiked hair (?).

Recruits:
Fall in attire: FULL SCHOOL UNIFORM + SCHOOL SHOES + WHITE SOCKS. (boys&girls), ribbons (for girls, it will be given to you on that day itself).

Hello All,

Tomorrow is not a band day, but to those who needs to come back, the band room will be open at 9.30AM. Same rules apply in terms of attire because its still a weekday. School might be a little sparse tomorrow, so take care of your valuables etc.

To do list:
1. Arrange your scores according to appearance.
2. Iron your uniforms, find your ribbons (applies to ladies only), shine your boots. All in all, make sure you have a complete set of full band uniform.
3. Sleep early.

See you on Sunday.

PS; Please add more life in your playing, I'm sure you don't want people to give the (-,-) face. Most importantly, don't bury your head in the scores please. Scores are just for reference.

Few reminders,

SLs, please collate the number of people going for the Chalet (23rd June) by tomorrow (17th June). Junisa will be going around before combine band starts to accumulate the results.
For future band practices, please come 15minutes earlier to take your temperature before falling in. If you're a late comer, please take your temperature at the G.O or the security guard before joining the band. Automatically, tell Junisa your temperature.
Dress code for band practices should not include FBTs unless instructed.
Late comers should enter the band room by the front door, not the side door, back door, store-room door or whatever imaginative doors you can go through.
2 concerts coming up so far, NYW's (1st Inaugural Concert,$15) & SYF presentation, $5. Don't forget your $$$.

PS; It's 5 days to Band Investiture. 40 Days to Band Fiesta.

Hi clarinetist,
Firstly i want to thanks Andrea for telling me the email and password=). I got the feeling to write this post to you all.
After a long and hard practices and camp, how are you all feeling? I hope that you all have the objectives in your heart and head. SYF is a time that allow bands from all around Singapore to show their hard work and show their passion for music. SYF is not a activity that want the bands to challenge each other as it does not have 1st,2nd 3rd order, it just say gold silver..etc.
I'm really sorry that i didn't go back to see you all but i know that we all are working hard. Every time i pass yuying i will be wandering 'How you all are doing?', are you all practicing hard for the goal you all set. In my time, we work hard to achieve a gold and went through lots of scolding and training(Even thought its a silver but all of us is happy and we know we had already did our best). Treat this seriously as its not only a time to show your strength but also to have a wonderful memories that the band family shared together. When i think through that moment i am on the stage, i do get nervous but i enjoy the time i had there.Its not everyone can be on that stage,only bands can be on that stage...=)
Remember my dear sisters and brothers, jiayou and have fun in this SYF. Create lots of memories with each other. I know there may be some conflicts but i know they are all training and the obstacles to make you all grow. Forget the past but experience the future and the present with a new you that molded from the past.
This is what i learn from my experience:
Believe in yourself is the first thing you need to do before every thing.You can't expect others to believe in you if you don't first believe in yourself.=)
May GOD blesses you all and eases the nervousness you all of your hearts.He knows the future and that will do the best for all of you all.=)

IT'S JUST THREE HOURS OF PRACTICE TO SYF !1 DAY STILL !
I'm really speechless right now. I can't think of anything to say 'cos we've been through so much together as a band and i hope we'll have this telepathy, as in, you can read my mind.
Look through the schedules that i posted on the few previous post; yes, you been through the whole entire week of band practices; everyday; all 26hours of it;
Reflect on what you have done, what you achieved,
what you would love to see from the band etc.
You can write little motivational stuff on the tagboard for the others!
Please keep you and your spirits alive these 2 days before our SYF;
if you need to release stress or talk, you can always approach any of the seniors or me;
we'll lend you our listening ears + shoulder + tissues! Clean up all your nose and throats, get well soon for all those who is sick currently, or going-to-be-sick.
Remember, bring your FULL BAND UNIFORM (+ribbons +long socks +boots) on MONDAY(06/04/09)! So that Tuesday, you won't panic in the morning and forgot to bring something.The feeling a day before SYF is not that serious yet.
To me, i can still sleep on that night. But its the day itself, when you wake up and you thought to yourself.. "Hey~ SYF IS TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" You start going through part by part in your minds, thinking back of all the what-to-dos and what-not-to-dos. You feel like someone is watching you as you travel to school, you get all ... nervous and nauseous and woozy.
Seek the sec 4/5/alumni, you can force them to tell you their experience; ask them how they cope with their ridiculous fears; I'M SURE they'll be glad to tell their juniors about anything and everything they went through, right snrs???Have a good rest. Have fun when you play.
Show all 7 judges all the way to the last person what we've got.

Hello Clarinettist! So sorry I have not been posting nowadays.
I'm busy so i ask HongXing to help me to post.
Oh well, tomorrow there will be soundcheck from 8.30am.
Fall-in after your first period. We will go to the Singapore Conference hall
and then to NIE for band practice. Bring some money and snacks in case you
guys feel hungry. Not forgetting the Band Hoody!

135th post(: ok girls and boys read this very touching de i read until block nose sia >.<
I was walking around in a Target store, when I saw a Cashier hand this little boy some money back.
The boy couldn't have been more than 5 or 6 years old.

The Cashier said, 'I'm sorry, but you don't have enough money to buy this doll.'
Then the little boy turned to the old woman next to him: ''Granny,
are you sure I don't have enough money?''
The old lady replied: ''You know that you don't have enough money to buy this doll, my dear.''

Then she asked him to stay there for just 5 minutes while she went to look a round. She left quickly.
The little boy was still holding the doll in his hand.
Finally, I walked toward him and I asked him who he wished to give this doll to.

'It's the doll that my sister loved most and wanted so much for Christmas.
She was sure that Santa Claus would bring it to her.'
I replied to him that maybe Santa Claus would bring it to her after all, and not to worry.
But he replied to me sadly. 'No, Santa Claus can't bring it to her where she is now. I have to give the doll to my mommy so that she can give it to my sister when she goes there.'

His eyes were so sad while saying this. 'My Sister has gone to be with God. Daddy says that Mommy is going to see God very soon too, so I thought that she could take the doll with her to give it to my sister.''

My heart nearly stopped.

The little boy looked up at me and said: 'I told daddy to tell mommy not to go yet. I need her to wait until I come back from the mall.'

Then he showed me a very nice photo of him where he was laughing. He then told me 'I want mommy to take my picture with her so she won't forget me.'

'I love my mommy and I wish she doesn't have to leave me, but daddy says that she has to go to be with my little sister.'

Then he looked again at the doll with sad eyes, very quietly.

I quickly reached for my wallet and said to the boy. 'Suppose we check

again, just in case you do have enough money for the doll?''

'OK' he said, 'I hope I do have enough.' I added some of my money to his with out him seeing and we started to count it. There was enough for the doll and even some spare money.

The little boy said: 'Thank you God for giving me enough money!'

Then he looked at me and added, 'I asked last night before I went to sleep for God to make sure I had enough money to buy this doll, so that mommy could give It to my sister. He heard me!''

'I also wanted to have enough money to buy a white rose for my mommy, but I didn't dare to ask God for too much. But He gave me enough to buy the doll and a white rose.''

'My mommy loves white roses.'
A few minutes later, the old lady returned and I left with my basket.

I finished my shopping in a totally different state from when I started.

I couldn't get the little boy out of my mind.

Then I remembered a local news paper article two days ago, which mentioned a drunk man in a truck, who hit a car occupied by a young woman and a little girl.

The little girl died right away, and the mother was left in a critical state. The family had to decide whether to pull the plug on the life-sustaining machine, because the young woman would not be able to recover from the coma.

Was this the family of the little boy?

Two days after this encounter with the little boy, I read in the news paper that the young woman had passed away.

I couldn't stop myself as I bought a bunch of white roses and I went to the funeral home where the body o f the young woman was exposed for people to see and make last wishes before her burial.

She was there, in her coffin, holding a beautiful white rose in her hand with the photo of the little boy and the doll placed over her chest.

I left the place, teary-eyed, feeling that my life had been changed for ever.. The love that the little boy had for his mother and his sister is still, to this day, hard to imagine.

The little boy said: 'Thank you God for giving me enough money!'

Then he looked at me and added, 'I asked last night before I went to sleep for God to make sure I had enough money to buy this doll, so that mommy could give It to my sister. He heard me!''

'I also wanted to have enough money to buy a white rose for my mommy, but I didn't dare to ask God for too much. But He gave me enough to buy the doll and a white rose.''

'My mommy loves white roses.'
A few minutes later, the old lady returned and I left with my basket.

I finished my shopping in a totally different state from when I started.

I couldn't get the little boy out of my mind.

Then I remembered a local news paper article two days ago, which mentioned a drunk man in a truck, who hit a car occupied by a young woman and a little girl.

The little girl died right away, and the mother was left in a critical state. The family had to decide whether to pull the plug on the life-sustaining machine, because the young woman would not be able to recover from the coma.

Was this the family of the little boy?

Two days after this encounter with the little boy, I read in the news paper that the young woman had passed away.

I couldn't stop myself as I bought a bunch of white roses and I went to the funeral home where the body o f the young woman was exposed for people to see and make last wishes before her burial.

She was there, in her coffin, holding a beautiful white rose in her hand with the photo of the little boy and the doll placed over her chest.

I left the place, teary-eyed, feeling that my life had been changed for ever.. The love that the little boy had for his mother and his sister is still, to this day, hard to imagine.

And in a fraction of a second, a drunk driver had taken all this away from him.

I don't want any conflicts happening in our section.

It's such a childish mindset. Really. I believe you all. I have the faith

Well, hope you had fun? and learn alot from
Mr Png. Hahaa. Mr.Png was indeed a humorous teacher.

You all must make used of what you all learn today,
not forgetting the one we learn from every teachers.
Alright. New section tee's design is confirmed.
But there maybe will be a second design. ( if it is in a low price)
Sectionals - Choose any two days between Mon to Wed.
For 1 hour. Make used of it. As there will be not enough time for sectionals
Sectional the way how Mr.Png taught us.
That's all? Yupp. And try to donate some pencils and erasers to the
clarinet stationaries. And we need to clean up the instrument and files cupboard.
Its too messy. Don't mind, i need some helpers during the sectional days
to decorate it as well as clear it up neatly.

Don't be too over happy. Btw, Congratulations. Yes, continue to maintain the standard. Really, Yi Chuan & I were stunned when mp announced it. We the yellow china ppl rawks & please, It was tears of joy & sadness. I'm no crybaby. (: Anyway, Good job. Good luck for syf. Anyway, its all thanks to the seniors.
